Dr.Sharafudheen has had a distinguished career as a development practitioner and policy maker. After a brief stint in the Indian Economic Service and the Indian Police Service he joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1984. He has over thirty years of experience in government and at the World Bank covering public administration, development policy, banking and finance, infrastructure delivery, business and industry, urban and rural development and social protection. He was CEO of two public sector corporations, the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation Ltd and the Kerala Ceramics Ltd. He was instrumental in setting up TATA Ceramics Ltd, as a joint venture to produce bone china for export, between the TATA Group and a British company. He has a MA and PhD in Economics from Temple University, USA and an MBA from the Management Development Institute, India.
